Detailed microdata from Statistics Canada surveys
The Quebec Inter-University Centre for Social Statistics (QICSS) offers Quebec's research community a secure access to detailed microdata from Statistics Canada's surveys, and to Canadian censuses' data, as well as to an increasing number of administrative datasets.
In January, 2015, the Canadian Research Data Centre Network (CRDCN) launched a search engine that allows you to easily find the datasets available at the QICSS. The search engine is designed to help you find out more easily which dataset among all the surveys available in the research data centres best suits your research needs. You can search by theme (based on past publications) or subject (based on Statistics Canada's classification), by type of survey (including pilot projects) or by its name.
Public Use Microdata Files (PUMFs) from Statistics Canada surveys
Public use versions datasets, along with any relevant documentation, have been made available in university libraries across Canada as part of the Data Liberation Initiative. For more information on these public version, please click here.
Projects using detailed microdata from Statistics Canada
Since opening in September 2001, over 600 projects using detailed microdata from Statistics Canada surveys have been carried out at the QICSS; over a third of these are currently ongoing. These projects involve researchers from a variety of disciplines and institutions.
Statistics Canada now offers the list of current and completed projects in the RDCs over the last 12 months on their website. Click here to consult the list.
