In the second year of study, students register for MA/MSc2 and continue to work on their research. In April of the second year in the program, students typically either submit a Masters Thesis or a fast track paper. Research described in a Master’s Thesis cannot be part of a future PhD Thesis, however research described in a fast-track paper can count towards a student's future PhD Thesis.
The Third Year
In the third year, students usually enroll in the PhD Program (PhD2), continue working on their research, and begin taking the required area seminars.
The Fourth Year and Beyond

In the fourth year (PhD3), students are expected to schedule the Special Comprehensive Examination (PSYC 701).
PhD candidates must complete at least three years of resident study. Most students complete the program within 5-6 years.
