Applicants from McGill University

Postgraduate medical trainees are able to complete the following elective rotations:

  • At a site accredited for a given program to McGill University – these rotations are arranged at the program level without applying through the PGME Office.

  • At a site accredited for a given program to another Quebec University – these are called Quebec Inter-University Electives and trainees apply through the BCI website. Trainees must follow the Instruction Guide when submitting a BCI request via the BCI system.

  • At a site in Quebec not accredited for a given program to any Quebec University OR at a site that is outside of Quebec/Canada – these electives are called Non-Accredited Electives and a non-accredited site elective request form needs to be filled out and sent to the PGME Residency Coordinators.

The PGME Residency Coordinator must receive the request at least 2 months before the start of the start of the elective. Please note, requests made with shorter notice will not be accepted.

In case of any questions, please email your PGME Residency Coordinator.

To check the site's accreditation status, please refer to the CMQ list of accredited sites .
