About the New Student Mentorship Program
The New Student Mentorship Program (NSMP) aims to help new Canadian students, at both the undergraduate and graduate level, navigate their first year at McGill by matching them with a returning McGill student.
International students can apply to the International Student Services Buddy Program for matching opportunities.
Through the NSMP, new students:
- Are matched with a trained, upper-year mentor
- Check in one-on-one with their mentor monthly throughout the academic year
- Receive valuable first-hand experience on navigating university life and campus resources
- Can participate in regular NSMP social events to meet other mentees and mentors!
Through the NSMP, mentors:
- Are matched with an incoming McGill student
- Receive training to prepare them for building a healthy and successful relationship with their mentee(s)
- Facilitate active discussion throughout the academic year in one-on-one check-ins
- Can participate in regular NSMP social events to meet other mentees and mentors!
Registration is now closed for the 2022-2023 academic year.
Please note: due to high registration, we cannot guarantee a mentor match. However, if we are unable to match you, we will keep your information on file and prioritize your application for subsequent matches.
