Welcome Drs. Stanley Hum and Bradley Osterman to the Department!
The Department of Pediatrics would like to introduce our newest members, Dr. Stanley Hum and Dr. Bradley Osterman.
Dr. Robert Stanley Hum was appointed Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of General Pediatrics. Dr. Hum is transitioning to be a pediatric hospitalist and child protection pediatrician, coming from Columbia University Medical center where he was an Associate Professor of Pediatrics, practicing pediatric critical care for the past 12 years. Dr Hum’s training has taken him to Toronto, Massachusetts, Vancouver and New Jersey.
At Columbia University, Dr. Hum completed a Master of Arts in Biomedical Informatics and became board certified in Clinical Informatics. He completed research/scholarly work in clinical decision support, critical care handover communications and natural language processing in educational informatics. Recently, Dr. Hum has been working for the Chief Medical Informatics Officer as a Director of Clinical IT to advise on matters of healthcare data analytics. In their transition to EPIC, their new electronic health record system, Dr. Hum has a leadership role for Columbia University in healthcare data analytics as well as a clinical informatics leadership role in the department of pediatrics and division of pediatric critical care medicine. Dr. Hums looks forward to playing a continuing role in clinical and educational informatics / technology in both an applied and research capacity by improving the state of electronic health records.
Originally from Ottawa, Dr. Hum is thrilled to be coming back to Canada. His leisure time is filled with playing tennis and curling; going to movies; cooking; enjoying good food and traveling.
Dr. Bradley Osterman was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Neurology. Dr. Osterman is a pediatric neurologist and pediatric epileptologist joining us from CHU Sainte-Justine. He graduated from McGill University's Pediatric neurology residency program in 2014, and completed an epilepsy and electrophysiology fellowship the following year, with time shared between the Montreal Children’s Hospital and Montreal Neurological Institute.
Prior to arriving at CHU Sainte-Justine, Dr. Osterman had been an attending neurologist at the CHUL in Quebec City. He was also the director of the neuro-electrophysiology department, and the co-director of the ketogenic diet team. His main clinical and research focus is the management of refractory pediatric epilepsy.
Dr. Osterman grew up in Trois-Rivières, QC, but has spent most of his life in either Montreal or Quebec City, as well as having briefly lived in Nottingham, England. His interests include Canadian history, playing basketball, and teaching. He also loves to spend time with his family, namely Mélanie, his partner of 12 years of marriage, and Emma & Alexander, his two 5-year old twins.
