Located in Tiohtià:ke / Montreal, the Trans Research in Education Collective (TREC) centers the lived experiences, insights, and professional realities of trans, queer, non-binary, gender-diverse, and Two-Spirit educators in Canada.

Organized by McGill University graduate students, Randi Dalquist, Laurel Whitby, Jaeden Wilson, Eric Zambory, and Emilia Vera Romero and supported by Dr. Jayne Malenfant, the collective uses visual and community-based methods to imagine pathways towards new forms of collective resistance and educational justice in response to growing transphobic and queerphobic policies, discourses, and practices in educational settings across Canada. TREC explores ideas of resistance, imagination, solidarity, and (in)visibility, while working at the intersections of youth and education. As part of this, TREC engages with young educators to see how their experiences as both youth and teachers shape their understandings and actions across Canada.
