Experts: Global warming threshold

Warning that global warming is set to surpass the 1.5C threshold set in the Paris climate agreement within the next few years, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), in a new report, is urging an “overshoot, peak and decline” strategy to limit the risk of climate disasters like heatwaves, floods and wildfires,

Jill Baumgartner is a Professor and William Dawson Scholar in the Institute for Health and Social Policy and the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics & Occupational Health. She also is an Associate Member of the McGill School of Environment and Director of the McGill Centre for Climate Change and Health. Natalya Gomez is a Professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences. She is also a member of the Trottier Space Institute, the Bieler School of the Environment and the Brace Water Centre. Professor Gomez holds a Canada Research Chair in the Geodynamics of Ice Sheet - Sea Level Interactions.
