Professor Robert Whitley is available to comment. He conducted a study on assessing the fidelity of Canadian media to suicide reporting guidelines in the coverage of the suicide of Robin Williams.He found that the media followed the guidelines to very high-fidelity. He’s the Principal Investigator of the Social Psychiatry Research and Interest Group (SPRING) at the Douglas Hospital Research Centre. He is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at McGill University. His two main research (and action) interests are recovery and stigma.
