Offered by the Equity Team, Office of the Provost and Vice-Principal Academic (OPVPA)

With campus re-opening ramping up for Fall 2020 comes particular questions around how to ensure an accessible experience for students, colleagues and community members with disabilities. These resources take the principles of accessible service delivery, as seen through the lens of COVID-19, to equip staff and instructors with the skills they need to ensure a safe and accessible Fall semester.

Workshop description and goals

This workshop provides tips and best practices for working with clients with disabilities in the era of COVID-19. Front line workers, service providers, instructors and administrators will learn how they can facilitate access in their areas of work as the institution ramps up its in-person activities for the Fall 2020 semester.

By attending this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the barriers persons with disabilities experience, especially those that have emerged as a result of COVID-19
  • Discuss solutions for reducing or eliminating these barriers in a safe and accessible way
  • Apply basic disability etiquette when interacting with people with various types of disabilities, include those using assistive devices, support persons and/or service animals.
