Did you know McGill Office of Religious and spiritual life publishes a student magazine focused on enriching faith and spirituality, Radix Magazine? The newest issue is focused on the idea of "Compassion in Action." This was also the theme of the 2021 Parliament of the World's Religions. A cohort of McGill students attended the conference and took inspiration from it in contributing submissions to this issue. Other submissions are also included.

We would like to celebrate the publication of this issue - the first print issue since the beginning of the pandemic - with a launch party. While this event must be held online in the current public health situation, we are excited to invite the McGill community to explore this issue with our student Radix Advisory board as well as student contributors to the issue.

This issue includes a wide variety of pieces pertaining to love, sensitivity and compassion. One writer addresses the power of compassion in the fight against climate change, and another shares a poem about feeling inner empathy for all sentient beings. A third contributor offers poetry about a gay wedding that took place during the Parliament of the World’s Religions, and others submitted photographs and paintings depicting connection and care. We hope readers of this issue and participants at the launch event will leave with some more nuanced perspectives on "Compassion in Action."

We find that this theme resonates now more than ever, and we would like to come together in a virtual space in order to celebrate our contributors and have them perform their works!

Join us on Zoom on Wednesday, February 2nd from 5:30 - 7:30 PM (EST) as we flip through the issue together. There will be an open-mic following the issue reading, and those interested in participating (McGill students and the general community are welcome!) should RSVP on myInvolvement.
