Montreal Maternity Hospital.

The Montreal Maternity Hospital (initially the University Lying-in Hospital) was founded in 1843 in association with McGill’s School of Medicine. At first located in a small rented building, it moved to a specially constructed building on Saint-Urbain Street in 1905. In 1926, three years after amalgamation with the Royal Victoria Hospital, it moved to the latter’s newly built Maternity Wing (the Women’s Pavillion) on the slope of Mount Royal. The Saint-Urbain Street building became the site of the Hôpital Ste-Jeanne-d’Arc (now home to Transition-Enérgétique de Quebec (TEQ), CHSLD Saint-Georges and the Centre de Recherche et d'Aide pour Narcomane (CRAN)/Centre de réadaptation en dépendance de Montréal).
