The Committee for Oversight of Research Units in the Faculty of Medicine (CORU) is mandated by the Vice-Principal (Health Affairs) & Dean of Medicine to review research units within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, where a unit can be a centre, institute (not hospital affiliated), network, or other group that receives funding from the University (from the Vice Principal, Provost, or the Faculty of Medicine) as a cash contribution (various sources, including from endowed funds), payment of rent for an offsite location, a portion of indirect costs or other. Members of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences comprise the majority of the active researchers in said research units.
The Committee for the Oversight of Shared Research Resource Facilities (COSRRF) is mandated by the Vice-Principal (Health Affairs) & Dean of Medicine to provide strategic and operational oversight of all shared research facilities (cores) for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. In addition to internal McGill members, this committee brings together expert users and scientific directors of core facilities external to the Faculty (and/or University), ensuring broad representation and avoiding conflict of interest in review and funding decisions. The COSRRF will provide guidance concerning the development, operations and continued relevance of core facilities within the Faculty.
The Standing Committee on Research (SCoR) is mandated by the Vice-Principal (Health Affairs) & Dean of Medicine to provide strategic and operational oversight of all aspects of research for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. This committee brings together research leaders from across the Faculty, ensuring broad and inclusive representation, and will serve as an important forum to address issues of concern and help build the Faculty’s research strategic direction and culture.
