The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of McGill University is a powerhouse of research and innovations driven by over 2000 basic and clinician scientists, 2000 graduate students, 1500 postdoctoral fellows and about 800 residents. Our research portfolio comprises world-class facilities located on campus and at affiliated teaching hospitals, sponsored by about $400M of active research funds (about 60% of McGill’s entire research activities).

The mandate of the Office of Research in our Faculty is to make our researchers thrive and grow their activities in the most creative, productive and impactful manner.

Our specific missions comprise:

  • The oversight of the Faculty’s Research Ethics Board, Responsible Conduct of Research, Environmental Health & Safety.
  • Developing and administering research policies.
  • Keeping our Faculty's strategic research plan and strategic initiatives up to date.
  • Overseeing research centres and campus core facilities.
  • Administering internal grant review procedures.
  • Coordinating Faculty applications to major funding competitions, including with other Faculties and McGill Central administration.
  • Administering of Faculty event sponsorship.
  • Managing conflicts of interest related to research activities.
  • Acting as McGill's University Delegate at CIHR (Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
