Postdoctoral Research Fellow (PDF) Position Available – Li-ion battery materials and electrochemistry

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow to work in our laboratory (HydroMET: Hydrothermal materials for energy & environmental technologies; https://www.mcgill.ca/materials/people-0/faculty/george-p-demopoulos/research-interests) on on-going and new Li-ion battery research projects. The research involves solution synthesis of electrode materials and ceramic electrolytes, comprehensive characterization (including postmortem and possibly in-situ in collaborating facilities), and electrochemical testing and analysis (EIS, CV, etc.) of cells assembled in glovebox. Previous experience in assembling coin cells, performing electrochemical analysis and operating and maintaining battery specification glovebox is a must. The candidate should have a PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science & Engineering with proven publication record relevant to the position. Excellent communication skills in terms of oral presentations and technical report research manuscript writing are essential. As part of your fellowship, you are expected to make presentations to the group or meetings with the sponsors and participate in conferences as presenter. Among your duties you are expected to provide training and mentoring to student-members of HydroMET lab.
The position may be filled as of June 1st, 2021 or at the selected candidate’s earliest availability. The initial appointment is for one year renewable upon satisfactory performance and funding availability. The selected candidate will be offered a gross salary at $35,000 to $45,000 depending on the level of background experience.
