Co-op Work Permit Letter Renewal
International students in the Materials Engineering Co-op Program are responsible for ensuring that they meet all immigration requirements and hold the appropriate authorization and documentation required to participate in internship work placements in Canada.
Students must carefully review the most recent guidance provided by McGill International Student Services (ISS) regarding eligibility to work, required documentation, and application procedures.
Please note that international students must hold a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) to work in Canada. If you do not have a SIN, you will need to apply for one with Service Canada.
When applying for your study permit, it’s possible that you will be asked for a letter from the university to confirm that you are participating in a program with a mandatory work requirement. If so, you can provide the government with the attached document.
