Two McGill experts, Professors Mugambi Jouet and Jason Opal, will examine 2020 US presidential election and the issues leading up to - and following - one of the most contentious and volatile political battles in US history.

What's at stake in this election and why is it so important? How will key issues like COVID-19, racism, women's rights, wealth inequality and the economic turmoil wrought by the pandemic factor into voting decisions and the post-election agenda? What will be the fallout from such a divisive election? How will it affect democracy and the electoral process?

Join us for a frank discussion about the issues, personalities and rancour driving the 59th US presidential election. Professor Mugambi Jouet (Faculty of Law), and Professor Jason Opal (Dept of History & Classical Studies) will discuss what's at stake in this election and how key issues will factor into voting decisions and the post-election agenda.

Organized by McGill Alumni.
