Fireside chat with the honourable Mahmud Jamal Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada

The Administrative & Constitutional and Human Rights section of the Canadian Bar Association, Québec Branch and the McGill University, Faculty of Law are pleased to invite students from all faculties of law to a “fireside chat” with the Honourable Mahmud Jamal, Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada.

An alumnus of McGill’s Faculty of Law, Justice Jamal will discuss his path in law, from his legal studies to his former career as a litigator – notably in the fields of constitutional law and class actions – and finally to his judicial role, first with the Court of Appeal of Ontario and now with the Supreme Court of Canada. The discussion will also touch on the role of legal education, community involvement and pro bono work, and the mission of the Canadian Bar Association.

The event will take place on September 22, 2022 in the Maxwell Cohen Moot Court of the McGill Faculty of Law. Attendees will be able to enter from 5:15PM onwards and the event will begin at 5:30PM. It will be followed by a cocktail at 6:30PM in the Atrium which will be attended by representatives of the Canadian Bar Association and several of its law sections. All students who attend the event will receive a free one-year membership for the Canadian Bar Association.
