Chancellor Day Hall NCDH 200, 3644 rue Peel, Montreal, QC, H3A 1W9, CA

As part of the JSDLP’s annual speaker series, Professor Ipek Türeli of the McGill University School of Architecture will give a lecture entitled “Architectures of Spatial Justice.”

Abstract

Spatial justice links social justice and physical space. The term, coined by LA-based urban geographer Edward Soja, highlights the spatial dimension of social justice. Both justice and injustice can be spatially produced and may become visible in space. Spatial justice posits that the analysis of interactions between space and society is necessary to understand social injustices and to formulate territorial policies aimed at tackling them. Prof. Türeli’s research has recently focused on housing for spatial justice.

About the series
