Substitute Teaching Endorsement | Approbation de l'enseignement suppléant

This form should be filled out by either one of the following members of the Teacher Candidate's host school:

  1. School administration (e.g. principal, vice-principal)
  2. Cooperating Teacher

By submitting this form, you must confirm that you have discussed and agreed upon the terms with the other member of your host school.

Ce formulaire doit être rempli par l'un des membres suivants de l'école d'accueil du stagiaire:

Given the current needs of schools, the Internships & Student Affairs Office is prepared to exceptionally authorize McGill Teacher Candidates (also known as Student Teachers) in FE3, FE4, IN1, and IN2 to substitute for their Cooperating Teacher in the event of their CT’s absence. The Cooperating Teacher(s) and the School Administration must endorse the Teacher Candidate’s ability to serve as a substitute teacher via this form. |
Compte tenu des besoins actuels des écoles, l'ISA est prête à autoriser exceptionnellement les stagiaires de McGill en FE3, FE4, IN1 et IN2 à remplacer leur enseignant associé (CT) en cas d'absence de leur CT sous conditions spécifique. Le (s) enseignant (s) associé (s) et l’administration de l’école doivent approuver la capacité du candidat enseignant à servir d’enseignant suppléant via ce formulaire.

*EXCEPTION: The McGill Teacher Candidate is only permitted to act as a substitute for another class/teacher if they have no assigned/expected student teaching duties (e.g. teaching, observation, ECAs) during this period. | *EXCEPTION: Le stagiaire de McGill n'est autorisé à se substituer à une autre classe / enseignant que si le stagiaire n'a aucune tâche d'enseignement assignée / attendue (p. Ex. Enseignement, observation, ECA) pendant cette période.
**AN IMPORTANT NOTE FOR FE4/IN2 TEACHER CANDIDATES: While the 5-day/32-hour limit applies for all Teacher Candidates in FE3, FE4, IN1 and IN2, please be aware that, per government regulations, Teacher Candidates receiving the Intern Perseverance and Success Scholarship (IPSS) in their final field placement (FE4 or IN2) additionally risk being ineligible for the scholarship if they eventually substitute for more than 5 days/32 hours during their placement. | ** REMARQUE IMPORTANTE POUR LES STAGIAIRES FE4 / IN2: Bien que la limite de 5 jours / 32 heures s'applique à tous les stagiaires en FE3, FE4, IN1 et IN2, veuillez noter que, conformément à la réglementation gouvernementale, les stagiaires recevant la Bourse de soutien à la persévérance et à la réussite des stagiaires dans leur placement final sur le terrain (FE4 ou IN2) risque en outre d'être inéligible pour la bourse si elle se substitue finalement pendant plus de 5 jours / 32 heures pendant leur placement.
***AN IMPORTANT NOTE ON LIABILITY INSURANCE: When a Teacher Candidate serves as a substitute teacher, they are expected to be a paid employee of the school/board during this time, which means they will consequently NOT be covered by McGill's CNESST coverage for students performing internships. To be covered by the school/board's CNESST liability insurance during any substitute teaching, the student and school/board must ensure that the student is officially employed as a substitute teacher and paid employment income by the school/board for this specific work period. | ***REMARQUE IMPORTANTE SUR L'ASSURANCE RESPONSABILITÉ: Lorsqu'un stagiaire agit à titre d'enseignant suppléant, il est censé être un employé rémunéré de l'école / CS pendant cette période, ce qui signifie qu'il ne sera PAS couvert par la couverture CNESST de McGill pour les étudiants effectuant des stages. Pour être couverts par l'assurance responsabilité civile de la CNESST de l'école / CS pendant tout enseignement suppléant, le stagiaire et l'école / CS doivent s'assurer que le stagiaire est officiellement employé comme enseignant suppléant et qu'il soit rémunéré par l'école / CS pour cette période de travail spécifique.
