DCL candidate Presents at 33rd UN/IAF Space Economy Opportunities for Emerging Nations

We are delighted to share that our DCL candidate, Martina Elia Vitoloni, has been selected to participate in the 33rd UN/IAF Space Economy Opportunities for Emerging Nations, organised by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA). Representing CONSTELAR, Martina delivered a presentation highlighting the valuable contributions of civil society organisations in Argentina to the development of the space sector.

CASSOA Board of Directors Capacity Building

EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency, EAC Civil Aviation Safety & Security Oversight Agency (CASSOA), together with the McGill Institute of Air and Space Law, are delighted to have delivered another successful capacity-building programme for the CASSOA Board of Directors in August, focused on RSOO operations in a changing aviation environment.

Co-Director visits Canadian Senate

On Tuesday, Professor Vincent Correia, Co-Director of the McGill Institute of Air and Space Law, participated in discussions before the Canadian Senate regarding proposed updates to Canada's Air Passenger Protection Regulations (APPR). Reforming the APPR is an important step toward addressing the current backlog of cases while maintaining an appropriate balance between passenger rights and airline interests.

Second Workshop for the Multilingual Interpretation of the OST project

Today marked the conclusion of the second workshop of the Multilingual Interpretation of the Outer Space Treaty (OST) project.

Over two highly productive days, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on the French-language version of the OST, advancing a shared understanding of its interpretation across the Treaty’s authoritative languages.

The first workshop for the Multilingual Interpretation of the Outer Space Treaty (OST) has officially concluded in San José, Costa Rica. Over two very productive days, participants engaged in detailed discussions focused on the Spanish‑language version of the OST, advancing a shared understanding of its interpretation across the authoritative languages. The workshop closed with a visit to the local planetarium—an inspiring reminder of the domain that brings this community together.

Workshop with the Rwandan Space Agency

Last Friday, the Institute of Air and Space Law wrapped up a successful three-day workshop with the Rwanda Space Agency, discussing domestic space law. The workshop, which was organised and moderated by Dr Arnold Agaba, included presentations from Professor Andrea Harrington, Adjunct Professor and Alumna Diane Howard, DCL candidate Judith S. jahnke, and LLM student Melanie Munyori.

We are delighted with the resounding success of the Uganda Airlines-McGill Workshop on Air Law, Business, and Management, held in Kampala from November 24-27, 2025. IASL participates in the Manfred Lachs Moot Court (African Regional Rounds)

The McGill Institute of Air and Space Law was delighted to participate in the 16th Africa Regional Round of the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition, held on 22 and 23 May 2025 at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria, South Africa. Dr. Arnold Agaba (Postdoctoral Researcher and Chair the Research Group on African Air and Space Law) served as a judge during the competition, sharing his expertise and helping to inspire the next generation of African space lawyers.

IASL in Africa

The McGill Institute of Air and Space Law had the opportunity to witness the historic launch of the African Space Agency and participate in the NewSpace Africa Conference which took place in Cairo, Egypt. Dr. Arnold Agaba, Ph.D. and Ms. Mirette Elgawahry took part on behalf of the IASL.
