Hamid Akbarzadeh

Prof. Hamid Akbarzadeh is a Canada Research Chair (CRC) Programmable Multifunctional Metamaterials, an Associate Professor in the Department of Bioresource Engineering, an Associate member in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and the Director of Advanced Multifunctional and Multiphysics Metamaterials Lab (AM3L) at McGill University. He has more than 15 years of extensive research experience in solid and applied mechanics of multifunctional metamaterials. He has expertise in the field of theoretical and computational mechanics and multiscale design of architected materials, bio-inspired cellular mechanical metamaterials, multifunctional smart and modular composites, and 3D printing of advanced materials and structures. His research team works on a wide range of cutting-edge research topics on design, multiscale multiphysics modeling, optimization, 3D printing, and material characterization of architected metamaterials and metastructures. To date, his research has already been published in more than 145 high-impact international journals.
