Undergraduate Programs

Earning your Bachelor of Science in Earth and Planetary Sciences is an engaging and rewarding experience.

We provide a range of options, including Major, Honours and Minor programs which are designed to accommodate your interests and academic goals.

Majors 

With our BSc major programs, we offer flexibility in course selection and specialization, allowing you to explore your interests within the field.

Geology 

Credits: 66

The program provides a foundation in the fundamental earth science subjects and in the advanced subjects relevant to environmental geosciences, geologic hazards, the evolution of life, and resource development. 

The program meets the academic requirements shared by the professional orders for geologists and environmental geoscientists in most Canadian provinces.

The program focuses on links between Earth systems, providing quantitative skills and a flexible curriculum grounded in Earth & Planetary Sciences, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, and Geography.

Physics and Geophysics

Our joint program with Physics offers students a solid foundation in geophysics and a comprehensive understanding of the physical processes and properties of the Earth.

Major in Environment with a Concentration of Earth Sciences and Economics

Credits: 66

Our joint programs with the Bieler School of the Environment allow students to understand the science and economics of Earth's raw materials, from extraction to recycling.  

Note: This concentration is only open to students in B.Sc. Major Environment in the Faculty of Science.

Our joint program with the Bieler School of the Environment teaches students the fundamentals of economics and the relationship with the Earth’s environment.

This program integrates Earth and Planetary Sciences with courses from various scientific disciplines and the Faculty of Arts to provide students with an interdisciplinary approach to understanding our planet.
