McGill Dentistry Summer Clinic Volunteer Application

The 2020 summer clinic will run from July 7th to 30th, 2020.

If you are interested in volunteering, you can apply between January 1 and May 1, 2020.

We accept a maximum of 50 volunteers and acceptance is made based on a first-come first-served basis for those who meet the minimum age (18 years) and vaccine requirements listed in the application form.

You must apply by May, 2020 and we will contact those who are accepted as volunteers by June 1st, 2020.

Please note:

  1. Before continuing, please remember that you must be available for our orientation and training session on July 6th - two sessions will be offered, 9am and 1:30pm - AND available to do at least 2 half day shifts per week for at least 2 weeks between July 7th to 30th, 2020
  2. Please review the volunteer vaccination requirements below. These vaccines must be completed by the application deadline of May 1st.
  3. No reference letters will be given to volunteers for participating in the faculty of dentistry summer clinic

 

Vaccination Requirements

Vaccine Requirement
Tetanus and Diphtheria PROOF of primary childhood series AND
PROOF
of vaccination or booster within last 10 years
Pertussis PROOF of primary childhood series AND
PROOF
of a secondary adolescent or adult dose
Measles PROOF of vaccination with 2 doses on or after the 1st birthday OR
PROOF
of positive measles serology
Mumps PROOF of vaccination with one dose of mumps vaccine OR
PROOF of positive mumps serology
Rubella PROOF of vaccination with one dose of rubella vaccine OR
PROOF of positive rubella serology
Varicella PROOF of vaccination with 2 doses of varicella vaccine OR
PROOF
of positive varicella serology
Hepatitis B PROOF of receipt of 3 vaccine series
Tuberculosis PROOF of a negative 2-step Mantoux (TST) test within the last 12 months only for the following applicants:
  • Those born in Canada before 1976
  • Those born outside of Canada
  • Those who have received BCG (see below)
  • Those who have been exposed to active Tuberculosis
  • Those who have travelled a cumulative 3 months or more OUTSIDE OF : Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, UK, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Greece, Italy, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Antilles, Caribbean (EXCEPT Haiti and Dominican Republic)

Please note:

  • All TST must be read within 72 hours by a trained healthcare worker – self reading is not accepted
  • Results must be reported in mm of induration not as positive or negative
  • If the first test is positive, do not perform the second one – you will require PROOF of a chest x-ray and respirology consultation completed within the last year
