The McGill Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences’ Annual Research Day is one of the Faculty’s main events, and it is the most important research-oriented event of the Faculty’s calendar. It is an opportunity for all members of the Faculty, McGill, and broader oral health research communities to come together and celebrate oral health research.

The 2023 Research Day will be held on April 18, 2023, at New Residence Hall (3625 Avenue du Parc). This is the Faculty's 17th Annual Research Day, and the first in-person meeting since 2019.

An awards ceremony will be held at the end of the day.

We have the great pleasure of welcoming two extraordinary keynote speakers. Dr. Carlos Quiñonez will speak in the morning and Dr. Jill Helms will speak in the afternoon.

Carlos Quiñonez is Vice Dean and Director, Dentistry at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry of Western University at Western University. He is a leading Canadian advocate for dental policy reform. Dr. Quiñonez’ research is focused on dental public health and explores the history, politics and economics of dentistry with a social equity lens. He regularly acts as a consultant to governmental and non-governmental agencies and is internationally recognized as a leading figure in oral health care policy. Dr. Quiñonez's session is presented by Dentsply Sirona.

Jill Helms is a Professor in the Department of Surgery at Stanford School of Medicine, Her research focuses on understanding why healing slows as we age. Dr. Helms and her team have found that many such age-related changes can be traced back to sluggish stem cells, and her group has developed methods to re-activate a patient’s own stem cells for therapeutic intervention in a broad range of conditions affecting bone, cartilage, skin, and hair and beyond. She is also Vice-Chair for Diversity and Inclusion in the Department of Surgery and works with colleagues, students, and community partners to tackle some of the most persistent inequities in healthcare. Dr. Helms' session is presented by Hiossen Implant Canada.
