Best of Luck: Dr. Martine Lévesque

The Faculty of Dentistry wishes the best to Dr. Martine Lévesque, who is finishing her postdoctoral fellowship and moving on to a new stage in her research as Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine School of Rehabilitation at Université de Montréal.

Martine has been with the Faculty of Dentistry since 2006, and has held myriad titles over the years: research assistant, research coordinator, graduate trainee (PhD), and postdoctoral fellow, most recently. After completing her PhD in Public Health at the Université de Montréal under the supervision of Dr. Christophe Bedos, in which she addressed socio-political access to care barriers for people living in poverty through dental professional education and using arts-based approaches and tools, Martine completed a 3-year postdoc. In this stage of her research, she worked under the supervision of Dr. Mary Ellen Macdonald on a project related to community participation in regional health planning in Cree communities.

In her new position at Université de Montréal, Martine will teach and develop research programs with affiliated research centres (including the Centre de Montréal sur les inégalités sociales et les discriminations (CREMIS)), while continuing to privilege participatory and qualitative approaches.
