Getting involved with the Faculty is easy. There are many ways that you can be involved with the Faculty. Just a few of them are listed below. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact carol.dsouza [at] mcgill.ca (Carol D’Souza).
The Student Mentorship Program was inaugurated in 2014-2015 by Dr. Norman P. Miller following a generous philanthropic gift to the Faculty of Dentistry. We are constantly recruiting alumni to be part of our mentorship program. Matching is based on several factors beginning with the goals and areas of interested as stated by the mentees when they filled out their registration questionnaire. Mentors will be assigned either one or two mentees based on these matching criteria. It's an enriching experience for both students and alums!
Dentistry Alumni Awards are amongst the most prestigious honours given out by the Faculty of Dentistry. Every year at the much anticipated White Coat Ceremony, an evening to honour the third year dental class through the donning of white coats and celebrate the passage from the classroom to the clinic, these awards are given to undergraduate and graduate students in recognition of their excellence and talent in the classroom and beyond.
Outstanding Alumnus Award
The Outstanding Alumnus Award recognizes and celebrates a McGill Dentistry graduate for his or her exceptional contributions to the Faculty and the dental profession in general. The winners are nominated by their peers and a call for nominations is sent at the beginning of every year.
This award is unique in that the recipient will be honoured for their work and the award will bear the recipient’s name for the following year. The financial prize will be given on behalf of the awardee to three deserving residents in the Faculty’s General Practice Residency Program. These awards have been created through a very generous donation to the Faculty of Dentistry from the Courthill Foundation. The purpose of the award is twofold:
- To recognize and reward alumni of McGill’s Faculty of Dentistry who have demonstrated, over a period of time, exceptional contributions to the Faculty and commitment to the betterment of dentistry in various ways.
- To support residents in the Faculty of Dentistry’s GPR Program. The resident is to be chosen on the basis of excellent quality of clinical care they have provided to patients as a dental student.
Every year our CE department offers a variety of courses that alumni and non-alumni can take to use towards their required Continuing Education courses. For more information on our CE program see here.
