On March 26th, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Mr. André Lamontagne, announced grants totaling $7.1M to three organizations engaged in the food processing sector, including $6M in funding to The Consortium for Research, Innovation and Transformation of Agrifood (RITA) at McGill University over the next 5 years.

Jin Guo, Assistant Professor of Software Engineering at McGill's School of Computer Science, was awarded $382,020 in research funding from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation's Better Software for Science program to study and improve the usability of large-userbase scientific open source software through early engagement of software users.

The Healthy Brains for Healthy Lives (HBHL) initiative is happy to announce the launch of its Neuro-Innovation Fund. HBHL’s Neuro-Innovation Fund aims to close the gap between proof-of-concept research grants, and funding from traditional investors (angels, venture capitalist, institutional investors). The Fund will provide technology development grants to support further proof of principle and/or add value to new technologies or inventions related to the research themes of HBHL.

Professor Auclair was recently awarded funding from the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) of Australia. The two co-applicants involved in this application, Prof. Auclair and Prof. K. J. Saliba from The Australian National University, will share approximately $185,000 per year for 3 years to work on "Understanding and targeting coenzyme A biosynthesis and utilization in Plasmodium falciparum".
