CIRM welcomes visiting scholar Fabio Scetti

CIRM is pleased to welcome linguist Fabio Scetti for a three-months research residency!

Dr. Scetti holds a PhD from Université Paris Descartes and is currently an associate researcher at CLESTHIA Laboratory (Université Sorbonne Nouvelle). His work in sociolinguistics and lexicography focuses mainly on migrations, language variations and minority languages ​​in danger. His most recent book, "La communauté portugaise de Montréal. Langue et identité "(Presses de l'Université Laval, May 2019), is an ethnographic survey of the status and evolution of the Portuguese language through the daily language practices of members of the Portuguese community of Montreal and their identity dynamics. During his residency at CIRM, Dr. Scetti will conduct research on the Italian community of Montreal.

The book launch of "La communauté portugaise de Montréal" will take place at Santa Cruz Mission on June 22, from 3pm to 5pm. The event is open to everyone!
