Appointed Co-Editor-in-Chief of Cancer Prevention Research
The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) has appointed Dr. Pollak as Co-Editor-in-Chief of Cancer Prevention Research, an international journal published by AACR, effective January 1, 2019.
NIH-NCI Special Emphasis Panel Review Committee
Dr. Pollak was invited to review multimillion dollar program grants at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) - National Cancer Institute (NCI) Special Emphasis Panel Review Committee in Washington, DC, USA in February 2018.
AACR Obesity and Cancer Conference
Dr. Pollak was an invited Conference Co-Chair at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR)'s "Obesity and Cancer Conference" in Austin, Texas, USA in January 2018.
O. Harold Warwick Prize by the Canadian Cancer Society
Consecutive national recognition of work in cancer genetics and prevention at McGill and the Jewish General Hospital! Dr. Michael Pollak was awarded the prestigious O. Harold Warwick Prize by the Canadian Cancer Society in 2012 and Dr. William Foulkes received it in 2013. This prize is given to "A scientist whose research has had a major impact on cancer control". Nominations are received from across Canada, so we are proud that two of our senior clinician scientists with neighboring offices in the same institution captured the award two years in a row, reflecting national recognition of our research work.
