McCrackin, S, Chat, GPT, Chatzis, G, Yan, L, Mayrand, F

In fair McGill, where science reigns,
A lab of wonder there remains.
The Lab for Attention and Social Cognition,
Probes minds with EEG’s precision.
Florence tracks our eyes to measure gaze,
And watches for shifts in attentional states,
When we converse with those who are dear
And whether their face is obscured or clear.

Luowei examines how we see groups,

With facing trios or sets of two.

She watches pupils shrink or dilate,

When watching faces that gaze away.

...

Sarah is busy with seeking out traces,

Through hazey masks and shrouded faces,

Or how our thoughts and emotions sway,

When our view of the face is taken away.

Jess is studying how directional cues

Shift our attention to exciting new views.

She asks if it matters how many are seen,

And if human or arrow cues are perceived.

...

With brilliant students to help along,

We test our theories, some right, some wrong.

We study attention, and how it flows,

Throughout the brain, its highs and lows.

We look at empathy, and how we feel,

And how our brains react, with zeal,

To emotional cues, and other signs,

That tells us what’s on others’ minds!

...

So let us praise this noble quest,

To study the fain and all its best.

With Jelena’s fearless supervision,

We’re the Lab for Attention and Social Cognition.
