Paul Laurendeau wins Governor General’s Medal in Architecture

Paul Laurendeau (BSc[Arch] ’89, BArch ’91) is a 2016 recipient of the Governor’s General Award in Architecture, presented on 20 September 2016 in a ceremony at Rideau Hall.  Laurendeau was the lead design architect on the Amphithéâtre Cogeco in Trois-Rivières, in consortium with François R. Beauchesne.

2016 Tongji International Construction Festival

The School of Architecture team took second prize at the recently completed 2016 Tongji International Construction Festival in Shanghai. The students' project - "Sphere - Wave" - was based on the use of a single, repeated module and required no additional fasteners beyond a simple friction connection. This allowed for rapid assembly without additional tools in a variety of situations. The modular concept also permitted a variety of shapes for the final project.

Best Atlantic-Published Book Award

Prof. Robert Mellin has won the Atlantic Publishers Marketing Association’s Best Atlantic-Published Book Award (sponsored by Friesens Corporation) at this year’s Atlantic Book Awards and Festival.  The award was announced at the festival gala in Moncton, NB, on April 27, 2016, and was presented for a printed book which best exemplifies publishing activity in Atlantic Canada.  Prof.

Radoslav Zuk Travel Award in Architecture

Atelier Big City and KANVA win Grands Prix du Design

McGill student team wins first prize at Ice Hotel
