The Yes Men Are Revolting! - lecture, film screening and Q&A

On Wednesday, April 8, 2015, 7 p.m., Andy Bichlbaum and Mike Bonanno, aka The Yes Men, are coming to McGill to give a free public lecture and screening of excerpts from their new film, The Yes Men Are Revolting, followed by Q&A.

The event takes place in Leacock 132, McGill University, 855 Sherbrooke West, Montreal.

Free and open to the public; no registration, no reserved seating. Spaces on a first come, first served basis.

With the environment on the brink of collapse, The Yes Men ask a pressing question: at a time when corporate forces have bought and sold democracy, how can we effect real change? Their answer: get every viewer involved in the struggle. The Yes Men Are Revolting completes a trilogy of funny feature documentaries they started a decade ago with The Yes Men (2004), in which they posed as spokespeople for the World Trade Organization, acting out comedic vigilante justice against the elite.

“The Yes Men Are Revolting chronicles the past five years of pranksters Andy Bichlbaum and Mike Bonanno (not their real names), the infamous activists known for duping the media with their impersonations of corporate shills and government stooges. At this stage of their career, the Yes Men have climate change at the top of their agenda, which takes them to Washington, Copenhagen, Uganda, and the Albertan tar sands. Laura Nix and the Yes Men team up as directors, recording every step of Bichlbaum and Bonanno's journey as they meet with collaborators and pull off their witty stunts. Their planning and execution is filled with anxiety and improvisation, some pranks fizzling while others turn into media whirlwinds — and one case brings a threat of legal action more serious than any the Yes Men have ever encountered before.” – Thom Powers, Toronto International Film Festival website
