Map Network Drive

Note: If you are off campus using a personal PC you need to be logged in to the McGill VPN to access the ABIF file server. Look for Installing and connecting to McGill's VPN.
Once the McGill VPN is installed and connected you should have access to the data server while you are mapping it.

For McGill managed computers, the new VPN will be installed automatically in the next few weeks.

Instructions for Personal PC (Windows)

1. Go to This PC and right click to select Map Network Drive
2. Choose Drive: Z: (if the Z: drive is already allocated, select another empty slot)
3. Type in the Folder: \\imgfacility.medicine.mcgill.ca\data\

4. Select Reconnect at sign-in
5. Click Finish
6. Login with your McGill e-mail and password
7. Note: this network will not appear when you restart your computer. To fix this, right click This PC and select Add a network location
8. Follow the prompts and enter the same address as step 3 in the network address bar. Click Next and enter your McGill Credentials

9. A folder with the network name will appear below This PC. When you restart/ turn on your computer, click on that folder to connect to the facility network

Instructions for MAC

1. Open Finder and click the Go menu
2. Select Connect to Server
3. Type in the Server Address: smb://campus.mcgill.ca/medicine/research/imagingfacility

4. Click Connect
5. In the following window, select Registered User
6. Enter your McGill SHORTNAME (ie. jsmith) and regular password. To find your McGill Shortname go to Minerva select Personal Menu and select Password for McGill Username. Make sure to use the right one if you have both student and staff email.
7. Click Connect
8. Click the + in the Connect to Server window to add the server to your favorites
9. The server should be found in the Finder window now, from which you can access your lab's folder
   Note: if this does not work, use the address: smb://imgfacility.medicine.mcgill.ca/core

Instructions for McGill Campus Computer

1. Go to This PC and right click to select Map Network Drive
2. Choose Drive: Z: (if the Z: drive is already allocated, select another empty slot)
3. Type in the Folder: \\campus.mcgill.ca\medicine\research\imagingfacility

4. If on a public computer unselect Reconnect at sign-in
   If on a private or campus domain computer leave Reconnect at sign-in selected
5. Click Finish
6. Login with your McGill e-mail and password
7. A folder window will open. Click on the Core folder and locate your lab folder based on the surname of your PI. Click on your personal folder "firstname.lastname"
