Together, Graduate Program Directors (GPD) and Graduate Program Coordinators (GPC) are responsible for managing all aspects of their programs and for advising students on academic matters. Although the duties and responsibilities of the GPD and the GPC vary due to differences in organizational structures, procedures, and sizes of the individual graduate programs, it is useful to point out certain common features of the positions.
These pages contain a set of paradigmatic guidelines for GPDs and GPCs, many provided by faculty members, graduate students, GPDs and GPCs themselves in response to survey conducted in April 2012 by GPS.
