As part of Campus Public Safety, Fire Prevention oversees the following responsibilities:
- Safe evacuation of buildings through education, fire protection equipment and code conformity of McGill infrastructures.
- Fire prevention in McGill activities and operations by providing training, support and the necessary safety procedures for the protection of people and property.
- Emergency response and preparedness, in collaboration with various units, for the protection of the community and the interest of the university.
- Testing, inspection and repairs of fire protection equipment.
