Faculty of Education at McGill's BRAVO Gala

McGill’s annual Bravo gala is a time to celebrate the best of the best in McGill’s research community by recognizing those researchers who have been awarded major provincial, national and international prizes.

This year, Professor Russell Hepple, Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, was among those recognized. The Montreal General Hospital Foundation awarded him the 2014 Nesbitt McMaster Award for Excellence in Medicine and Surgery.

Education students author, illustrate children’s book

Five students in the Faculty of Education have collaborated to create the illustrated children’s book Nelly’s Really Very Bad Day.

TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) students Cho Yeung Lee, Valerie Nguyen and Jessica Gibson worked with Kingergarten/Elementary Education students Demeka Fa and Erin Lieberman. Cho Yeung Lee explained some of the motivation and aspirations behind the project:

Dr. Drapeau co-authors provincial guidelines for psychosocial services

Dr. Martin Drapeau, associate professor with the Faculty of Education's Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology (ECP), has co-authorized a recent document that will be used for developing provincial standards.

Research Exchange Forum relaunches March 11

The Research Exchange Forum events have been relaunched to promote faculty-wide research sharing. These regular events, open to all, are intended to support the transdisciplinary research culture within the Faculty, and to provide an informal hub where faculty and graduate students’ ongoing research can be discussed.

Health and Fitness Lab finds bariatric patients should increase activity

A newly published study headed by Ross E. Andersen’s team at his Health and Fitness Promotion Laboratory, housed in McGill’s Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, highlights the need for physical activity for those who have undergone the increasingly popular practice of bariatric surgery.
