KPE successful at recent CIHR Operating Grant competition
Three researchers from the Faculty of Education’s Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education were awarded Operating Grants in the Canadian Institutes of Health Research’s (CIHR) most recent competition. CIHR funds research leading to improved health, more effective health services and products, and a strengthened Canadian health-care system.

ECP's Dr. Jeffrey Derevensky Receives Joseph Ciarrocchi Recognition Award!
Dr. Jeffrey Derevensky, Professor in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, was presented the Joseph Ciarrocchi Recognition Award from the the Maryland Council on Problem Gambling for pioneering efforts in research on youth problem gambling. Dr. Deverevnsky's research focuses on identifying and understanding the underlying factors and consequences related to youth gambling problems.

Stephanie Mitelman, a course lecturer in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, was interviewed on CTV News! Stephanie works as a sex educator with the Sexual Health Network of Quebec, and provides sex education to Quebec’s public school systems.
“For decades sex education was a staple in North American high schools, but in 2005 Quebec decided to change course and dedicated instruction was removed from the curriculum.”

ECP's Dr. Susanne Lajoie, Canada Research Chair, Tier 1 and Professor in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, and her Learning Environments Across Disciplines (LEADS) research team 'leads' a 19-university and 6-country collaborative research project on technology in classrooms. Dr. Lajoie's team and study are featured in the Le Devoir, particularly as it relates to dropout rates.
