On March 1, McGill University held the inauguration ceremony for the Alphonse-Desjardins trading room on the second floor of the Bronfman Building. The event drew McGill students, McGill alumni who work for Desjardins, senior McGill administrators, and Desjardins employees.

Out of 30 competitors, 12 semi-final competitors, and 6 final competitors, BCom student, Wilfred J. Valenta and his partner Sarah Marshall, came in 2nd at the 2012 Enterprize Canada national business plan competition in Vancouver. The rigorous competition included a business plan submission and final presentation in front of over 150 delegates.
The Ubuntu Centre in Zwide, Port Elizabeth last week received a substantial R250 000 donation from Mutual & Federal and a visit from 37 Canadian MBA students from McGill University who want to raise funds for the centre.

McGill BCom students place 2nd at the Business Strategy Challenge (BSC 2012) at the Georgetown University
For a third year in a row, a McGill team placed top 3 at the Business Strategy Challenge hosted by Georgetown University in Washington DC. After placing third in 2010 and first in 2011, a team of four McGill BCom students placed second out of 20 universities at this year’s competition which took place from February 14 to 18, 2012.
As part of McGill’s “5 Hot Cities of The World Tour”; thirty MBA and undergraduate students will be traveling to South Africa and meeting with government officials, business executives and community leaders as they visit the beautiful cities of Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth.
