All about the new User access guidelines form

The new User access guidelines form summarizes and defines the requirements for gaining access to McGill’s centrally-supported web systems for public sites.

Starting July 2020, anyone who edits or manages a McGill website hosted on a centrally-supported platform - WMS, VHost or blogs.mcgill.ca - will need to complete the User access guidelines form. If you own, edit or manage one of these sites, you may have recently received an email asking you to fill out this form.

The form summarizes and defines the requirements for gaining access to McGill’s centrally-supported web systems for public sites, including:

  • Eligibility requirements
  • Training requirements
  • Key standards and best practices users need to comply with

As a web governance measure, the form also helps to balance web support requests within the McGill community with available Web Services resources.

Additional web governance initiatives are currently in the works and are expected to launch in the coming months. These initiatives support the goals and objectives of McGill's Web Evolution Program and are aimed at improving McGill's overall web ecosystem by ensuring compliance with McGill's Digital Standards. Stay tuned for updates!
