Resident Involvement in Research
Key Points:
- Research involvement tailored to resident’s interests & career goals.
- Each resident completes at least one research project during training.
- Opportunities for elective rotations in research.
- Access to McGill’s Clinician Investigator Program (salary guaranteed with degree completion).
The program aims to accommodate research involvement to the resident’s interests and career goals. As per the Competency by Design curriculum, each resident is required to complete at least one research project during their residency training. Residents may take advantage of research electives in their senior years or, if interested, pursue further research endeavors through the Clinician Investigator Program at McGill University.
The Clinician Investigator Program at McGill university combines clinical training and research education, aiming to develop clinician-scientists who possess both clinical expertise and research experience. Residents who choose to apply and are successful in partaking in this program are awarded a full resident salary while completing a graduate degree in their research stream of interest. Active involvement in academic half day, clinical duties such as call, is expected during research years.
