From Saturday, Oct. 5 through Monday, Oct. 7, the Downtown and Macdonald Campuses will be open only to McGill students, employees and essential visitors. Many classes will be held online. Remote work required where possible. See Campus Public Safety website for details.

Overview

This minor is for Bachelor of Music students who want to learn how to manage a professional career in the creative arts. You will take courses at the Desautels Faculty of Management, the Schulich School of Music and the Faculty of Science, with a focus on:

  • Conceptualizing, developing and managing new professional ventures.
  • Managing your career as a performer, music teacher or arts administrator.
  • Marketing, fundraising, publicizing, and financing fundamentals.

The program will help you to develop practical professional skills to your Music degree. These kinds of skills can make it easier to navigate the ever-evolving music industry upon graduation.


Careers

This minor is perfect for those who may want to pursue the business side of music, or for those who want to better understand how to navigate their career in the music industry. Classes in management, business, marketing, psychology and more will add to your skillset and increase career opportunities.
