Summer / Fall / Winter Bursaries in Research
The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs Office seeks to expand research opportunities for qualified and interested health profession students. The Office coordinates research opportunities across the Faculty, including the Anatomy Prosection Project and the Research Bursary Programs. The students can engage in biomedical, clinical and outcomes research in all disciplines.
Research provides the opportunity for our students to:
- Work closely with a faculty mentor
- Learn by doing
- Increase confidence in scholarly abilities
- Develop teamwork and collaboration skills
- Build a portfolio of research experiences
- Create a network for academic endeavors
Summer/Fall/Winter Research Bursary Program provides students with an opportunity to work in a research environment alongside clinical and fundamental scientists and their trainees. Students must be thoroughly involved in the scientific experimentation process and not mainly data collection. Funding for the Research Bursary Program is provided by various donors.
Summer projects involve eight consecutive weeks of full-time research and must be carried out during the summer vacation period (June-August). Standard Summer research bursary value is $3,200.
The Faculty also offers a more limited number of Fall and Winter research bursaries to support ongoing student research interests and the continuation of summer projects. Standard Fall/ Winter research bursary value is $2,000 for 12 weeks of part-time research.
