Yasser Riazalhosseini, PhD

Head of the Cancer Genomics program at the McGill University Genome Centre; Associate Professor at the Department of Human Genetics, McGill University

Dr. Yasser Riazalhosseini, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Human Genetics at McGill University and the Head of Cancer Genomics at the Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Institute of Genomic Medicine. He earned his doctorate in Cancer Genomics from Heidelberg University and the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), where he developed expertise in functional cancer genomics. Dr. Riazalhosseini’s research program develops and uses systems biology approaches that combine genomics datasets from hundreds of cancers coupled with detailed clinical data, and high-throughput functional studies, to identify driver and actionable alterations. He leads a multidisciplinary, applied research program on genomics of renal cell carcinoma with the goals of obtaining better preventions and treatments. Dr. Riazalhosseini is also recognized for his work on intra-tumoral heterogeneity and the genomic evolution of metastasis, utilizing advanced next-generation sequencing and spatial profiling approaches. Through these efforts, he aims to advance precision oncology and improve outcomes for cancer patients.
