Research Day Awards:

Best Oral Presentation at McGill International TB Centre Research Day

At the end of the Annual Research Day, awards are given for the Oral Presentations. Number of prizes awarded dependent on number of entries: First prize - $300, Second prize - $200, Third prize - $100

MGH Award at McGill International TB Centre Research Day

This award is given to the overall winner of the Annual Research Day. Winners are invited to attend the Montreal General Hospital Foundation Annual Research Dinner in the fall of the same year.  


Publication Awards:

Emil Skamene Prizes for the Best Paper in Biomedical Research

Established in 2015 and co-sponsored by McGill Global Health Programs, these $300 awards are given for the Best Paper in Fundamental Research each calendar year. There is a prize given to Graduate Students and another for Postdoctoral Fellows. Winners will be announced at the Annual Research Day and asked to present at Global Health Night or at Global Health Research Day.

Jonathan Meakins Prizes for the Best Paper in Clinical Research

Established in 2015 and co-sponsored by McGill Global Health Programs, these $300 awards are given for the Best Paper in Clinical Research each calendar year. There is a prize given to Graduate Students and another for Postdoctoral Fellows. Winners will be announced at the Annual Research Day and asked to present at Global Health Night or at Global Health Research Day.

Margaret Becklake Prizes for the Best Paper in Health Outcomes Research

Established in 2015 and co-sponsored by McGill Global Health Programs, these $300 awards are given for the Best Paper in  Health Outcomes Research (Epidemiology, Public Health or Global Health Research) for the calendar year. There is a prize given to Graduate Students and another for Postdoctoral FellowsWinners will be announced at the Annual  Research Day and asked to present at Global Health Night or at Global Health Research Day.

Eligibility:

  • Only one publication can be submitted per trainee
  • A Centre member can submit more than one entry (e.g. one per student and one per postdoc), but no student can be nominated more than once.
  • Eligibility period: Any peer-reviewed paper that was published in the open literature (ePub or actually published) from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019 and January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020.
  • Subject: The subject should be limited to mycobacterial infections ie) TB, leprosy, Nontuberculous Mycobacteria

Entries will be judged by a panel of three members of the Centre. The committee will use the following criteria in making judgments:

  • The research approach
  • The originality of the ideas or methods
  • The impact of the research

Winners will be announced at the Annual Research Day and asked to present at Global Health Night or Global Health Research Day if possible.

Deadline for Publication award applications is March 1st, 2021. Please send an email to Lisandra Lannes with a pdf of the article.
