McGill Summer Academy Award
MSA Awards are available to Canadian participants who reside and attend school in Canada.
Who is eligible?
- Students from First Nation, Métis, Inuit, Native American, Alaskan Native, or Native Hawaiian communities
- *Canadian students who self-identify as Black
- *Canadian students who face financial barriers to pursuing their studies
*Students must hold Canadian citizenship, and currently reside and attend school in Canada.
We strongly encourage all students who meet one or more of the above criteria to apply.
What does the Award cover?
As an MSA Award recipient, your award will cover the following:
- All that is included in the MSA program cost (e.g. program fees, housing, course materials)
- Transportation to and from Montreal from your home address in Canada. We will cover the cost of your roundtrip plane, train, bus, or Uber/taxi.
- All meals and activities
The award does not include pocket money (e.g. for souvenirs or shopping).
How do I apply?
Directly in the MSA application. Note that one reference is required. Your referee must be a staff member at your school. For example, a school counsellor, an academic advisor, a teacher, or a tutor would all be appropriate. They must have known you for at least one year.
Instructions for referees
- Students must provide your email address in their application to McGill Summer Academy.
- Please keep your reference letter to no more than one typed page.
- The letter must include your full name, title, email address or valid phone number.
- The letter must speak to the following points:
- The student's interest in post-secondary education;
- The student's eligibility for the MSA Award (eligibility criteria is at the top of this page);
- How the student would benefit from this award.
The deadline to submit reference letters is March 29, 2026.
