Special Library Association Student Group

**Attention**

On August 21, 2025, the Special Libraries Association (SLA) membership voted to merge with the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T). The press release announcing the merger may be read here: https://sla.org/news/708517/-SLA-and-ASIST-Members-Vote-in-Favor-of-Merg...

The content of this webpage for the McGill student chapter of SLA remains as a resource for students, though the chapter is now inactive. Students interested in joining ASIS&T are encouraged to refer to the ASIS&T McGill student chapter webpage.

The Special Libraries Association McGill Student Chapter provides support and leadership opportunities for library and Information Studies students. The student chapter acts under the guidance of the SLA Eastern Chapter which organizes a wide range of professional development and networking events such as the annual SLA Conference. The association as a whole is dedicated to meeting library students’ needs with resources such as scholarship, awards and stipends. Student members are encouraged to participate in SLA organized events such as guest speaker visits, bake sales, and SLA professional networking events.

SLA encompasses a wide range of professional interests, such as government, business, legal, medical, or other special libraries as well as jobs in knowledge management and business development research units. As of Fall 2021, we will be planning both in-person and online events.
