SCSD In-house Clinics/Pediatric Clinic

Pediatric Speech and Language Teaching Clinic
Clinique universitaire des troubles de la parole et du langage chez l’enfant

The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders is grateful to the Hewitt Foundation for their support of this clinic which is located on-site at our school on the 8th floor, 2001 McGill College Avenue. The clinic provides free English-language speech-language pathology services to children aged 3 to 5 years, in the year prior to junior or senior kindergarten entry.

Who will receive service?

Children who are aged between 3.5 and 5.5 years at the time of registration, but not yet enrolled in senior kindergarten, will be considered for enrollment in this service. The child must have a primary language and/or speech problem that requires therapy. Children with other diagnoses that explain the language or speech problem will not be considered unfortunately (that is, autism, hearing impairment, cerebral palsy or other primary developmental conditions).

What services will be provided?

Children who are accepted into the clinic will receive an intake assessment followed by 20 speech-language therapy sessions, each one hour in length. The services will be provided in English. The sessions will be provided at the clinic one time per week for during the winter and spring. One-on-one therapy will be provided, with treatment goals and activities individualized to each child's needs.

Who will provide the services?

The services will be provided by a pair of senior McGill speech-language pathology students under the supervision of a Quebec certified speech-language pathologist.
