Welcome to the 2026-2027 academic year

We are proud to welcome returning students as well as 536 new students across all programs.

This fall, we proudly welcome returning students as well as 536 news students across all programs – an 18% increase over last year! These results are a testament to the excellence of our programs, the renown of our faculty, as well as thoughtful planning and sustained efforts on the part of our faculty and staff.

While McGill’s Ingram School of Nursing is well known for its academic excellence and scientific rigour, a great school is about so much more. It’s about engaging with enthusiastic, dynamic students who come together in a spirit of openness and curiosity. It’s about building and nurturing a supportive, inclusive community, where we work hard, but also remember to have fun. Whether you are registered for our in-person or online programs, our faculty, staff and student leaders are dedicated to helping you thrive academically and socially. Don’t hesitate to reach out!

As you adjust to the challenges of a new year and new demands, I encourage you to explore the resources available to you within the ISoN. The Nursing Undergraduate Society and the Nursing Graduate Students Association offer many opportunities such as serving as class representatives or implementing special projects. You may be interested in exploring our Nursing Peer Mentorship Program (NPMP) which pairs junior-level students with their more experienced peers; CBNA- McGill (Canadian Black Nursing Association) Alliance; and the Vascular Access Student ClubYour university experience is exactly that – yours – and I invite you to make the most of it.

The Ingram School of Nursing’s success involves many collaborations across the university’s campus. I would like to acknowledge Dean Lesley Fellows and colleagues within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences as well as other faculties and departments who share our commitment to student well-being and success. As always, my deepest gratitude goes to our generous donors whose support allows us to dream big, to collaborate on initiatives that meet societal health care needs, and to ensure that nursing students from all our programs have the tools to thrive at every stage of their academic journey.

There are over 29 million nurses in the world today. We need every single one of you – and more! We are honoured that you have chosen to study nursing here at McGill. Here’s to an amazing year of learning, discovery, and personal growth!

Best wishes,

Associate Dean and Director, Ingram School of Nursing
