On August 28, the Ingram School of Nursing welcomed 37 students from McGill University’s School of Human Nutrition to the Satoko Shibata Clinical Nursing Laboratories for an engaging breastfeeding workshop. Designed to bridge theory and practice, the session introduced students to the fundamentals of breastfeeding, including positioning, latch techniques, and strategies to support mothers during the immediate postpartum period. Students then had the opportunity to apply their learning through hands-on practice with simulation mannequins.
“This workshop is an excellent example of the power of collaboration between our two departments,” said Rosetta Antonacci, Associate Professor at the Ingram School of Nursing.
The event showcased McGill’s commitment to interprofessional education and to preparing future healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive, family-centred care.
