A Montreal native with a background in finance and data science, Xanthoudakis honed his skills in market analysis and risk management as a strategist for Desautels Capital Management (DCM)’s SRI Fund. He credits the London networking trip and MMF’s collaborative learning environment as key to his growth.

At the February 7 Town Hall, we announced that in order to address a projected $45M operating deficit in the 2025-26 fiscal year, it would likely be necessary to reduce McGill’s workforce by 350-500 people. We said at the time that although we hoped this could be achieved mainly through attrition, layoffs were likely unavoidable.
McGill Professor Simon Caron-Huot awarded a 2025 Dorothy Killam Fellowship
Simon Caron-Huot, Professor and Canada Research Chair in High-Energy Physics, has been awarded a 2025 Dorothy Killam Fellowship. The prestigious Dorothy Killam Fellowship is part of Canada’s National Killam Program, which also includes the Killam Prize. Eight Fellowships were awarded across the country.
The Dorothy Killam Fellowship provides researchers with up to two years of relief from teaching and administrative duties to focus on transformative research that has potential to positively improve Canadian lives.

The presence and concentration of PFAS, also known as "forever chemicals," in fertilizing residual materials will be monitored under new standards in Quebec through a management code, according to Quebec's Environment Ministry.
Quebec's code on the management of fertilizing residual materials such as sewage sludge, also known as biosolids—which come from treating municipal or industrial wastewater—will take effect Nov. 1.
The code takes into account a total of 13 types of substances and includes monitoring guidelines.

McGill University agronomist and economist Pascal Thériault told Radio-Canada that this measure will support consumers in their choices.

As part of our annual planning activities, Schulich Library of Physical Sciences, Life Sciences and Engineering has conducted a full review of its stacks. Library staff have carefully assessed the collection, identifying materials with low circulation. Over the next few weeks, select items will be relocated to the McGill University Collections Centre (MUCC). All relocated books remain available for borrowing.
